New Magic Knight Rayearth Anime Details

A new anime adaptation of CLAMP's classic isekai series, Magic Knight Rayearth, has been confirmed for a 2026 return to Japanese television.

The project, which was originally revealed in July 2024, recently received a major update via its official website. The key new details are:

  • Release Window: The anime is scheduled for broadcast in 2026.

  • Network: It will air on TV Asahi and its affiliated channels.

  • Teaser Visual: A new visual was shared, depicting the three heroines—Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji—at Tokyo Tower, the landmark where their adventure begins.

As of the latest report, production staff and voice cast details have yet to be confirmed.

The Magic Knight Rayearth franchise originated as a manga created by CLAMP.

  • Manga Run: The original manga ran from 1993 to 1995, followed by Magic Knight Rayearth 2 from 1995 to 1996 in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine, totaling six volumes.

  • Original Anime: The first TV anime series, directed by Toshihiro Hirano and produced by TMS Entertainment, aired for 49 episodes from 1994 to 1995. This was followed by the three-part OVA, Rayearth, in 1997.

  • Original Plot: Crunchyroll, which streams the original series, summarizes the premise as: "Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji aren't from Cephiro... until Princess Emeraude, the Pillar of Cephiro, cries out for the Magic Knights to save her world—and that just happens to be those three!"

The announcement of a new series is part of the ongoing celebration of the franchise's 30th anniversary.
